Rebecca Downs is a Licensed Master Social Worker focused on serving at-risk populations, specializing in program operations for the Housing Choice Voucher and Family Self Sufficiency programs. She has substantial experience with HUD regulations and program compliance. She earned her Master’s degree in Social Work from Stony Brook University and has worked in the social service industry for the past 14 years. Prior to the Southampton Housing Authority, she spent 10 years at two of the largest housing agencies in Suffolk County, CDC of LI and The Town of Islip Housing Authority.
In her position as Rental Subsidy Program Coordinator at the Southampton Housing Authority, Rebecca coordinates the Housing Choice Voucher and Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) programs. This includes but is not limited to the oversight of 2 staff, 270 vouchers and monitoring for compliance of Federal regulations and the Housing Authority’s administration plan, as well as oversight of the administration of the Home Improvement Program.
As a person passionate and driven towards social change, Ms. Downs feels that all people deserve to live in safe and sanitary housing and that it is the role of the Housing Authority to provide this need to the community.
