Jazz I, II & III
Jazz technique is an American-born art form that highlights strength and flexibility in isolations, transitions, and presentation quality throughout warm up, skill building and choreography. Jazz dance combines the precision of ballet, with the excitement of pop culture, the grounding of African dance and the syncopation of jazz music. Dancers who train in jazz technique are able to pick up choreography in all forms of dance quickly, change choreographic styles with ease and increase their confidence and self esteem.
Jazz I, II, & III will focus on positions of legs, arms and body as well as a culminate progression of skills including kicks, turns and jumps/leaps. Students are required to wear a leotard, tights or jazz pants, and jazz shoes.
Lyrical/Acro I, II, & III
Lyrical/Acro technique uses the strength and line of ballet and combines it with the swing and power of jazz technique to train dancers in performance expression, versatility in technique and fluidity in movement. Dancers who are fluid in lyrical dance have greater ability to show emotion and story line through the choreography. Acrobatics will also be taught as related to dance. It is recommended (although not required) that you have at least one year of ballet technique. Students should wear a leotard, tights or jazz pants, and leather ballet shoes or foot undies.
